Margaret Morgan Grasselli
Visiting Senior Scholar for Drawings

margaret_grasselli@harvard.edu / 617 496-9274

Ph.D., Harvard University
M.A., Harvard University
B.A., Harvard University

After spending 40 years at the National Gallery of Art in Washington—30 of those years as curator of Old Master drawings—Grasselli has returned to her roots at Harvard to take up positions that will allow her to teach, work with students and fellows, collaborate with museum colleagues, and research the collection of the museums’ drawings. An expert on French drawings, in particular those of the 18th century, Grasselli has written or contributed to numerous exhibition catalogues and published many notes, articles, and reviews in professional journals. She has also organized or co-organized several important exhibitions for the National Gallery of Art, including Watteau: 1684–1721 (1984); The Touch of the Artist: Master Drawings from the Woodner Collections (1995); Colorful Impressions: The Printmaking Revolution in Eighteenth-Century France (2003); Renaissance to Revolution: French Drawings from the National Gallery of Art, 1500–1800 (2009); and Hubert Robert, 1733–1808 (2016).
